London Lyricism

Hello there lovely readers,

It feels like an age since I have penned a post without a plan – y’know, one of those simple posts filled with just my ramblings that for some reason you guys want to read. Anyhoo, recently I spent the day in London with two of my best friends. Aside from there being great company and even better food (Haagen Dazs, anyone?), I realised that London is in fact, to me at least, one of the most inspirational places in the world.

As some of you avid readers may know, I used to dabble in a bit of song writing. Now, I haven’t written one in at least 6 months, but a conversation with my best friend in the midst of a bustling Oxford Street provided me with enough inspiration to come up with some new rhymes.

So, today, I thought I’d share my latest creation with you all. Here goes, hope you enjoy it!

People talking about heaven on the side of the street,

Now I’m just trying to live my life, I’m not trying to preach,

You’re talking about religion and about how I’m going to hell,

But have you even noticed the magazines the Big Issue man is trying to sell

Right next to you? I no longer know what to do,

To show you reality, guide you with the truth

Just trying to make you see with these late night rhymes,

That just because we’re not the same, neither of us has committed a crime.

Everyone’s stressing, racing through their lives,

Everybody realising, beginning to ask why

We’ve gotta grow old, handle some responsibility,

A million things to do before I go to sleep,

Got me questioning why everyone is rushing to the same beat.

Why can’t we slow it down and take a moment to just be?

War, hatred, famine and feminists

Surely there is more than life to this?

2 0 1 4 and people still have struggles,

The poor are still poor and the rich are still stuck in their bubble,

People need more than pity and loose change,

They need real help to really help heal the pain,

Because although society views the world as a stage, a place to pass the blame,

There’s one thing this life shouldn’t be and that is a game.

Phew, well done for reading this far! Hope you enjoyed those little lyrics – where do you go to get some inspiration? Let me know in the comments below!

Until next time,

Sascha xo
